Development of a Technology for the Production of Local Tuberculin for Early Diagnosis of Tuberculosis
This project is aimed at implementing the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-4899 dated December 25, 2020, “On Comprehensive Measures for the Development of Biotechnology and Improvement of the National Biosafety System.”
In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-4191 dated February 13, 2019, “On Measures to Further Improve the System of Specialized Phthisiatric and Pulmonological Care,” as well as the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-12 dated January 20, 2023, “On Measures for the Further Development of Phthisiatric and Pulmonological Services for 2023–2026,” the implementation of comprehensive diagnostic and preventive measures to combat tuberculosis is envisaged.
Due to the lack of domestic tuberculin production, tuberculin skin testing (the Mantoux test), which is used for the early detection of tuberculosis, is not performed to the required extent. This situation further aggravates the challenges associated with tuberculosis control.
The research work is aimed at developing the production of tuberculin containing highly purified tuberculin protein, free from ballast substances, without sensitizing properties, with high specificity, and capable of minimizing false-positive allergic reactions even when administered at minimal doses.
